Introduction

The primary objective of this project is to experiment with the innovative color silkscreen technique developed by JLC. To simplify the process, I slightly modified the an open-source project created by an expert on OSHWHub, and reimagined the silkscreen designs. Additionally, I customized a batch of specialized color pin headers & sockets to enhance the overall color harmony of the board. Furthermore, I used UV transfer stickers for pin silkscreen, thereby releasing more space on the board.

Design for PCB

Adopting a conventional Arduino layout, equipped with a 16MHz passive crystal oscillator, a 16-pin Type-C interface, a CH340 module for communication with the host computer, and two DC-DC buck converters (12V→5V and 5V→3.3V).

Design for Color Silkscreen

Referring to the layout design of the original project I have decided to adopt a simple color-blocking design. The colors are inspired by the blue and white palette used in ATRI's clothing, with a hint of red for embellishment. The edges of the component pads are also outlined in blue. The entire back space is just large enough to accommodate a full image, resulting in an excellent effect, and a few emojis also have been added to the extra space.😍
All silk screen files will be attached.
And, there is a hidden Easter egg beneath the core :)

I transferred all the original silkscreen of the pins to the side of the female headers, and specially customized a complete set of UV transfer stickers for this purpose. The files will also be attached. This can make the pin definition more clear and effectively utilize the idle area on the side of the row of female headers.

The silkscreen is white with a transparent background, so it looks a bit strange.🥰

Summary

Overall, JLC's quality control for color silkscreen printing is inconsistent. My friends and I have used it three times, and observed that the results were sometimes satisfactory and sometimes not. For instance, this time, many of the silk screen prints on the solder pads were slightly misaligned🥲, but on another occasion, the printing was perfectly aligned. It seems like it's a matter of luck.

Anyway, considering it's 30¥ with color silkscreen printing and immersion gold, the overall effect is quite good.

Others

Here are some pictures taken during the welding process, as well as the completed images. (I think my welding level is really perfect)
